The Lost Tiles of Adriaen van der Donck

Adriaen van der Donck wrote A Description of New Netherlands in 1655. It is a record of his detailed observations of the natural world and his encounters with the local Algonquin and Iroquoian he lived amongst in the upper Hudson Valley region of New York.

The Lost Tiles of Adriaen van der Donck imagines how the world he described would look on the signature Dutch blue and white tiles common to that era. Created in 2009, each tile is 4” x 4”.
